Web development
We build sites that are fast for people and legible to machines. In practice that means server-rendered or statically generated HTML, semantic structure, accurate structured data and Core Web Vitals that hold up on a mid-range phone rather than only on a developer laptop.
The problem
A site only a browser can read
A great deal of marketing content now exists only after a client-side fetch. Browsers cope. Many AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript so for those systems the page is effectively blank and no amount of content strategy fixes an empty page.
Performance compounds the problem. Slow, layout-shifting pages lose people before they convert and Core Web Vitals are a documented input to how Google assesses page experience.
What you get
Deliverables
Written into the engagement, not implied by it.
- Server-rendered or statically generated HTML by default
- Semantic structure: one h1, ordered headings, real landmarks
- Core Web Vitals measured on real devices, not just lab scores
- Accurate JSON-LD consistent with visible content
- WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility as a build requirement
- Clean URL structure with redirects that preserve existing equity
- Forms with real validation and a working submission path
How we run it
The process
- 01
Audit
Render test without JavaScript, crawl for status codes and chains, measure vitals on real hardware.
- 02
Architect
URL structure and templates planned so new content has an obvious home and existing rankings are not disturbed.
- 03
Build
Accessible, semantic, fast. Progressive enhancement rather than JavaScript as a prerequisite for reading text.
- 04
Migrate carefully
Where URLs must change, permanent redirects and preserved internal links. Most rebuild traffic losses are self-inflicted at this step.
Who this is not for
If you need a complex web application rather than a marketing site, we will point you at someone who builds those. This is not a general software team.
Questions
About this service
It can and that is almost always a migration failure rather than a design one: URLs changed without redirects, internal links dropped, metadata lost. We map every existing URL before anything is rebuilt and preserve what is working.
Usually, yes. A full rebuild is frequently unnecessary and we would rather fix the specific things holding you back than sell you a project.
Whatever suits the job and your team. For marketing sites we favour static generation, because it is fast, cheap to host, trivially crawlable and hard to break.
